Hello!
This is a free community for mothers, where experienced moms support those who are expecting or have just given birth – they bring fresh food and spend some time chatting and offering companionship. After registering, we help connect moms living near each other across Lithuania.

Who we are?

Giedrė Juškienė
Founder and Director
I am a mother of two daughters, a photographer, and a postpartum doula. For many years I have worked in various roles involving people, but I have never done anything as special and challenging as motherhood. My different experiences with childbirth and care in Lithuania and Germany sparked a strong desire within me to create change and improve things for mothers in Lithuania. This led me to become a doula and to bring the idea of a volunteer-based support network for mothers to Lithuania—an initiative I am personally involved in while living in Berlin, called “Supermamas Berlin.” The original inspiration for this idea comes from the Swiss organization www.supermamans.ch

More about what is Helping Mom.

Being a HELPING MOM, you will need to dedicate a bit of your time and energy—according to your abilities—to meet with a new mother, listen to her, and possibly share your own experience. If you are already a mother, you know what emotions can arise when becoming a mother. Therefore, the food you bring and the time you spend will be a great support for a mother who currently needs to devote all her energy to her baby.
Who is HELPING MOM
We are always looking for enthusiastic mothers who want to help pamper new moms in their neighborhood. When you become part of our “Namų mama” volunteer community, we will help you connect with new mothers who need your support. When we receive a new mom’s registration, we assign visit schedules among the Helping Moms who live nearby and have available time. Pampering usually lasts from one to four weeks and includes 3 to 7 visits, depending on how many Helping Moms are available at the time.
You decide how many visits you can commit to (or even none at the moment) and can schedule them according to your own availability. Sometimes there may be mothers experiencing signs of postpartum depression, who have had traumatic experiences, or who have lost a baby. If you have gone through similar experiences or are a specialist in a relevant field, be sure to indicate this when filling out the form (your personal information will not be made public). Your experience can be a tremendous help to a new mother.
More what is Pampering Mom.

We will do our best to find the type of pampering that best matches your needs. Our goal is to match volunteer mothers who will come to you with food and who are the most suitable for your situation.
There may be several options, depending on your circumstances:
-
“standard pampering” – starts in the first month after the baby is born;
-
“later pampering” – starts in the second or third month after the baby is born;
-
“pre-birth pampering” – if you are expecting and require special care (risk of preterm birth, prescribed bed rest), you may wish to receive support even before the baby is born.
-
“Urgent pampering” – intended for mothers experiencing signs of postpartum depression, who have lost a baby, or who have had another traumatic experience. The pampering itself is standard, but we try to find a Helping Mother who may have had a similar experience or who can offer some kind of support. We are not professionals and cannot provide medical care, but we believe that meeting mothers with similar experiences, talking, and sharing a freshly prepared meal can truly help.
You will be able to choose the pampering option that best suits you after registering. “Namų mama” does not aim to replace and cannot replace professional medical care and support (such as psychologists, midwives, or other specialists). If you are experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression, we recommend seeking help using the contact numbers provided in the contacts section.
